Pre-registration FAQs
What does pre-registration mean?
Pre-registration allows you to set an appointment for an exam before it is available. You can pre-register for a beta exam, a final exam, or both (just in case you need a second chance to try).
What is the difference between a beta and final exam?
The beta exam is used to validate and finalize the questions, tasks and technologies that will make up the final exam. Accordingly, it may not always provide a completely smooth user experience. Betas typically include three times as many questions than the final exam. However, a major advantage to taking a beta exam is that it is offered at no cost. In addition, beta candidates are able to provide comments throughout the test which are used to help shape the final exam.
Typically, beta exam results will be available 4 to 6 weeks after the beta closes, as in the case of the 1Y1-A16 Architecting a Citrix Virtualization Solution exam. Under unique circumstances, beta exam results are available immediately after exam completion, as in the case of the 1Y1-A15 Engineering a Citrix Virtualization Solution exam.
Do these beta exams count towards certification?
Yes. If you successfully pass the A15/A16 beta exam, you will be awarded the CCEE or CCIA for Virtualization - at no cost!
How do I prepare for these exams?
To prepare for exam A15, the recommended training is CVE-400-1I Engineering a Citrix Virtualization Solution. To prepare for exam A16, the recommended training is CVA-500-1I Architecting a Citrix Virtualization Solution. In addition, extensive field experience with Citrix products is required to be successful.
Is pre-registration required for these exams, or can I schedule my appointment once they are released?
Pre-registration is not required. However because beta exams have limited availability, pre-registration for beta exams is highly recommended. Beta exam pre-registration will be closed once the desired number of candidates is reached. Pre-registration for the final exam will help increase your chance to secure your ideal test appointment.
The test center that I typically use is not offering pre-registration for these exams. Why is that?
Only select testing centers that currently possess the technology required for these exams will be available for pre-registration. We have made efforts to ensure that all geographic regions are represented.
